Appearing at Carnegie Hall

You know the old joke. The New York tourist stops Leonard Bernstein on the streets of New York and asks him, “How do I get to Carnegie Hall.” He says, “Practice, practice, practice.”

One of the great professional pleasures of my wine career has been my continuous role as a board member of the Oakville Winegrowers since it was established as an official American Viticultural Area (AVA) in 1993. This fabulous alliance of vintners and growers, in the heart of Napa Valley’s Oakville region, is dedicated to advancing the quality of Cabernet from this highly regarded area. Each year our illustrious group gathers for Napa Valley’s most anticipated new release Cabernet tasting and each year we show why the tasting is the valley’s hottest professional tasting of the year. Now, after all these years of “practice, practice, practice,” Oakville is ready for Carnegie Hall.

Save the date of November 14, 2012. Twenty-three of my neighbors will join me as the Oakville Winegrowers bring our over-the-top style of support to the fund-raising cause for Carnegie Hall’s Artistic and Education Programs. This will be a spectacular tasting of wines not to be missed. If you love Cabernet and you are anywhere in the New York vicinity, you should drop everything and be there. Ticketing information will follow soon, but if you would like to secure a space now please feel free to email the Oakville Winegrowers at
